In this lesson, we'll take a closer look at the Writing and Language test.

The SAT Writing and Language Test is part of the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section.

The redesigned SAT test prioritizes content that reflects the kind of reading and math students will encounter in college and their future work lives. Official test specifications for the new SATTry SAT Practice The new SAT will have no bearing on students scheduled to graduate in 2015 or 2016.

However, for students planning to graduate in 2017 or any year after, the new SAT exam will be the exam they have to take (assuming they would prefer to take the exam no sooner than spring of 2016).

The SAT is divided into ten sections, each of which tests one of three subject skills: Critical Reading, Mathematics or Writing.

The actual SAT will test you on more rules than those four, but these give you an idea of what kinds of questions you'll see. Choice D eliminates the unnecessary commas, so D is correct. In this lesson, you learned about the SAT Writing and Language Test.

Here's an example of one of those questions: (1) Another contentious topic is the so-called 'runner's high.' Some runners report feeling a sense of them a few miles into a good run. Again, these are examples of the types of skills you'll need. On this test, you'll answer 44 multiple-choice questions on four passages, with 11 questions per passage.

It is administered on behalf of the College Board by the Educational Testing Service, but several adjustments were made for the version of the SAT introduced in 2016, and College Board president, David Coleman, has said that he also wanted to make the test reflect more closely what students learn in high school with the new Common Core standards.

Scores on the SAT range from 400 to 1600, combining test results from two 800-point sections: mathematics, and critical reading and writing.
