The series supports the NNS objectives, teaching both skills and strategies for problem solving. Each resource contains an example of a four-step approach for a problem solving strategy and task cards split into levels.
Please be aware that resources have been published on the website in the form that they were originally supplied.
This means that procedures reflect general practice and standards applicable at the time resources were produced and cannot be assumed to be acceptable today.
Website users are fully responsible for ensuring that any activity, including practical work, which they carry out is in accordance with current regulations related to health and safety and that an appropriate risk assessment has been carried out.
Each corresponding question from these levels follow the same line of questioning, so that when the teacher talks about a certain question, the solution process is the same for each level but the complexity of the sum varies.
Solving word problems requires both strategy and skill.
The books are designed in such a way that each section has six stages of questions to be worked through.
Every stage is split into three levels, for example 1a, 1b or 1c, based on achievement.
[Grade 1] [Grade 2] [Grade 3] [Grade 4] [Grade 5] The Word Problems are listed by grade and, within each grade, by theme.
I always find that providing a seasonal worksheet helps keep my daughter excited about doing her work.
